Joint Doctoral Programmes
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions
The MSCA Doctoral Networks aim to promote international, intersectoral and multidisciplinary collaboration in doctoral training across Europe, as well as to train highly skilled doctoral candidates and foster entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation in Europe and beyond.
Joint Doctorates (DN – JD) are one of the three implementation modes of the Doctoral Networks, alongside Standard Doctoral Networks and Industrial Doctorates.
In addition to the objectives of the standard Doctoral Networks, Joint Doctorates go further by establishing joint doctoral programmes, allowing for the award of joint, double, or multiple doctoral degrees recognised in at least one EU Member State (MS) or an Associated Country (AC) to Horizon Europe.
Institutions applying for a Joint Doctorate in European calls may recruit doctoral candidates for up to 4 years instead of 3, with a maximum project duration of 60 months instead of 48.
